For most households, we’d pick the Jackery Explorer 2000 v2. Based on a typical efficient fridge, it could run for around 42 hours, and its 4,400 W surge rating leaves room for the compressor to start. For short outages, the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 is a lighter option.
Our fridge picks use published specs from November 2026, and we haven’t run a fridge on any of these stations.
Quick comparison
| Model | Capacity | AC output | Estimated fridge runtime | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 | 2,042 Wh | 2,200 W | About 42 hours | 39.5 lb |
| Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 | 1,024 Wh | 2,000 W | About 21 hours | 24.9 lb |
| Anker SOLIX F3800 Plus | 3,840 Wh | 6,000 W | About 80 hours | 136.7 lb |
How much power a fridge uses
Look for the yellow EnergyGuide label, or look up your model online. It lists estimated energy use in kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year.
Daily watt-hours = yearly kWh × 1,000 ÷ 365
ENERGY STAR gives about 360 kWh a year as a typical figure for a certified top-freezer model. That works out to about 986 Wh a day, or an average of about 41 W. The compressor doesn’t run all the time, so the average is much lower than the wattage while it’s running. Older and larger fridges can use a lot more.
The runtimes above use 41 W and 85% efficiency. Real runtime depends on the room temperature, how full the fridge is, and how often you open the door.
Check the startup power
Compressors draw extra power for a moment as they start. A paper published by Sandia National Laboratories says to allow for a starting current that is typically three times the running current of a conventional fridge. One measurement in the same paper showed a much smaller rise, of up to 35%, so the surge varies. It also notes that variable-speed inverter compressors can avoid the problem.
To be safe, plan for three times the running figure. A fridge that draws 150 W while running would call for about 450 W of headroom. All three stations here have far more output than that.
Jackery Explorer 2000 v2: best for most fridges
It has enough capacity for most of two days with a typical efficient fridge, and one person can usually move it. Jackery lists a UPS switchover of under 20 ms.
Who it's for: Households that want about 2 kWh one person can move, with no plans to expand.
Strengths
- About 2 kWh at 39.5 lb
- 4,400 W surge rating
- LFP battery
Weaknesses
- Heavier to move than 1 kWh models
- Not expandable
Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2: best for short outages
It covers close to a day and weighs far less. Anker lists a 49-minute full AC charge, which helps if power comes back for a short time.
Who it's for: People who want about 1 kWh and 2,000 W in a portable box, and don't need to add batteries.
Strengths
- 49-minute full AC charge
- 2,000 W output, 3,000 W peak
- Rated to keep 80% capacity after 4,000 cycles
Weaknesses
- Not expandable
- Lower solar input than the DELTA 3 Plus
Anker SOLIX F3800 Plus: best for multi-day outages
This is the choice if you want several days of runtime or need to run more than a fridge. At 136.7 lb, it stays in one place, though it does have wheels.
Who it's for: RV owners and homeowners with heavy or 240V loads who can keep a large unit in one place.
The photo also shows the Home Power Panel, which Amazon sells with this model in some listings. Check what's included before you buy.
Strengths
- 120V and 240V output
- TT-30 RV port
- Supports up to six 3.84 kWh expansion batteries
Weaknesses
- Very heavy at 136.7 lb, though it has wheels
- AC charging input is 1,800 W
How to choose
- Check your fridge’s label. Use its yearly kWh figure to estimate your own runtime.
- Decide how long you need to cover. Allow for how long your outages usually last.
- Add your other loads. A router and lights will shorten the runtime.
- Keep the door closed. Plug the fridge directly into the station, and keep it full if you can.
FAQ
Can a 1,000 Wh power station run a refrigerator?
Yes, in most cases. Based on 41 W and 85% efficiency, a 1,024 Wh station could run for about 21 hours, though older or larger fridges will use more.
How do I measure my fridge’s real use?
Use a plug-in energy meter for a day or two. It gives you a better figure than the label.
Do I need a surge rating?
A surge rating helps a power station run a refrigerator, because compressors draw more as they start. Jackery lists 4,400 W of surge, and Anker lists a 3,000 W peak for the C1000 Gen 2.
