This page explains how the guides on PowerPicked are put together, so you can decide how much weight to give them.

How we choose products

We start with a real need, such as camping, an RV trip, or a power outage. Then we compare products on the published figures that matter for that need, such as capacity, output, weight, charging, and temperature limits.

Every guide says who each product suits, along with its strengths and weaknesses. A product that’s a good fit for one need can be a poor fit for another, so the same model may rank differently from guide to guide.

Where our information comes from

If we can’t find a figure, or a maker’s pages disagree, we say so instead of guessing.

AI tools help research and draft our guides. We then check each figure against its source, and we remove or flag anything we can’t confirm.

How we calculate estimates

Some numbers are our own math, not the maker’s. Runtime and capacity per pound are worked out from published specs, and each guide states the assumptions it uses. Runtime estimates usually assume 85% efficiency. Your results will vary with the load, temperature, and age of the battery.

What we don’t do

How we make money

We earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through our links. That money helps fund the site, at no extra cost to you, and it doesn’t change what we write about a product. No brand has paid to appear on this site. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Updates and corrections

Each guide shows the date it was last updated. Specs and listings can change after that date, so confirm the details before you buy. If you spot a mistake, please tell us through our Contact page.
